Please call the House Finance Committee Co-Chairs in support of House Bill 81 (HB81). The bill prevents an owner-builder who builds home without a contractor's license from offering the home for sale while it is being built.

H.R. 3700, the “Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act,” includes a number of initiatives that have strong support from the National Association of Realtors®, who hailed the vote as important progress for home buyers and sellers.

The Engineering Support and Plan Review Section of the Wastewater Discharge Authorization Program will be hosting a teleconference and webinar on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 1:30 – 3:00pm. The goal is to have a meaningful discussion with interested stakeholders concerning the best practices of managing wastewater systems in real estate transactions. Real estate professionals, property lending professionals and concerned homeowners looking to buy or sell a home in Alaska are encouraged to participate.

On May 15th the Alaska delegation attending the annual meetings in Washington D.C. met with our elected officials to lobby key issues on your behalf. 16 members of our Association were present for these meetings. In contrast to recent years when passing back and forth around the capitol building to get to meetings on the house and senate sides meant dodging construction zones and slogging through the hot and humid air, this year was actually a pleasant experience. Staff members from both Senator Begich's office and Congressman Young's office took time to get us through security to access the trains that the senators and congressman use to get back and forth to the capitol building. Congressman Young's staffer actually took the group up into the capitol for an impromptu tour.
